Hunt for job in Guang zhou

It is not the fist time i came to guangzhou, so there is a litte impression left in my mind here. on retrospect to two years ago , i came to guangzhou to find job with my boyfriend. At the time we just
graduated from colledge with several mounths' field training.Without rich working experiences is difficult to find a job in this kind of big city, however, Guangzhou is so-called big fire pot that persons
from different province and places , so many talents and employees surround all the talent markets
under that very hot weather . I was very tired with here at the time, i always regard our Fujian a very good and developed place , so i was confused and regreted to resign my first job in my home.Meanwile, i ofter quarrel with my boyfriend . in some aspect, I don't know him so much at that time and our relation is not solid for some personal ideas.he always said i don't love him , care about him , would not a little tender to him at all. When my memory went back to the old days , i confest it is my fault and discare about him , then now it can be said that all the unneccessories happen unincidentally . Finally i know and trust everything , of course, i sense my big fault manners to him before. As the old saying goes, let old things pass. So we begin our new life new plan togerther in Guangzhou this year, hope everything would be smooth in our birth year---cow year, come on

Every Girl is an Angel

Every girl, in fact, is an angel without tears.
She has the tears when she met the boy she loved.
Then, the angel weeps her tears and drops into the world.
Therefore, every boy shouldn’t betray his girl.
Because she even abandon the Heaven just for you.

China's mobile giants to invest $25 bln in 3G in 2009

China's three leading mobile operators are expected to invest a total of 170 billion yuan (24.87 billion U.S dollars) in construction of third-generation mobile communication networks this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Thursday.

China Mobile, the country's biggest operator is to invest 58.8 billion yuan in building 60,000 new TD-SCDMA base stations covering 238, or 70 percent of, prefecture-level cities by year-end.

The target includes all cities in the more populous eastern regions, according to the carrier's development scheme.

China Telecom is to spend 30 billion yuan on its first phase of investment this year and offer 3G services to 100 major cities by the end of March.

China Unicom will also pump 30 billion yuan in its first phase and provide 3G services for trial commercial use in 55 provincial capital and major cities in the first half and 282 cities by year-end.

The companies gave no details about period of "the first phase", saying it would depend on their actual use of money.

The remaining estimated 50 billion yuan in investment would follow the first phases, but the ministry gave no schedules.

Industrial analysts had estimated on Wednesday the three carriers would invest 150 million yuan in 3G network construction this year.

According to the three carriers' development plans, total investment in 3G networks would reach 400 billion yuan in three years and each expects to have 50 million customers.

The ministry issued the long-awaited 3G licenses on Jan. 7. China Mobile was awarded a license for TD-SCDMA, the domestically-developed 3G standard. China Telecom received a license for the U.S.-developed CDMA2000 and China Unicom was licensed to operate Europe's WCDMA.

The ministry forecasts about 280 billion yuan of direct investment in 3G networks over the next two years.

Growth in premium revenue reaches record high over 6 years

Growth in premium revenue reaches record high over 6 years

Insurance premiums on the Chinese mainland last year rose by the fastest since 2002 as people become more aware of the need for financial protection, the top industry regulator said yesterday.

A total of 978.4 billion yuan in premiums were collected last year, a jump of 39.1 percent from a year ago, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission said yesterday.

Life insurance led the growth as premiums totaled 665.84 billion yuan last year, a rise of 49.2 percent over a year ago. Non-life insurance premiums added 17 percent to 233.67 billion yuan in the period.

Some insurance firms have tailored products to cater to corporations and individuals as they became more aware for the need to be adequately protected financially. Insurers paid out 297 billion yuan last year, a 31.2-percent rise from a year earlier because of a snowstorm in early last year and a massive earthquake that killed more than 80,000 people in May.

At the end of last year, insurers placed 84.4 percent of their investments in bank deposits and bonds, up 16 percentage points from the start of the year while investment in stocks and funds dropped by 13.8 percentage points to 13.3 percent last year.

The industry's total assets topped at 3.3 trillion yuan as of the end of last year, up 15.2 percent from last year's beginning, the regulator said

Wen urges steps to reverse slowdown trend

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Monday called for more steps in the first quarter this year to reverse the trend of economic slowdown as soon as possible and realize a good start for the whole of 2009.

Wen made the remarks during the second plenary meeting of the State Council, or the Cabinet. The meeting was held in Beijing Monday.

Participants at the meeting discussed the draft of the government work report, which would be delivered for review at the second plenary session of the 11th National People's Congress in March.

The draft would be sent to provincial governments and central departments for advice.

The soliciting advice and revision part was a process to achieve concerted understanding and enhance confidence; a process to counter the global financial crisis and address the difficulties which arose from it; a process to solicit public opinion and make scientific decisions; and a process to improve policies and measures as well as enhance their implementation, Wen said.

Last year was an unusual year for the country, especially the second half of 2008 when the government unveiled a series of measures to counter the negative impacts of the global financial crisis.

"These measures have been proved prompt, correct and effective, " Wen said.

"This year is the most difficult year for China's economic development so far this century," he said.

Efforts should be made to enhance the implementation of the government's economic stimulus package and measures announced to boost the country's major industries, he said.

The Chinese government has announced boosting measures for the steel and auto industries, and is planning measures for eight other major industries.

Wen urged departments concerned to speed up work on the making of these boosting measures.

He called for more efforts on agricultural production during the winter and the coming spring, and said favorable policies for farmers should be firmly implemented.

He also called for efforts to promote stable and relatively fast industrial development.

Enterprises should be encouraged to intensify internal management, reduce operating cost, expand markets and stabilize employment, he said, and small and medium-sized enterprises should be given more support.

Work should be done to ensure service and commodity supply during the upcoming Spring Festival as well as boost consumption in both rural and urban regions, he said.

The government should work to maintain stable growth in trade, Wen said, underlining the need to expand emerging markets and improve the quality of exported goods.

Wen also stressed the need for work to ensure the country's financial stability and safety. The government should properly deal with changes brought about by the global financial crisis and maintain sound operation of the banking sector, he said.

More attention should be given to implement the central government's policy to improve people's living standards and solve problems concerning people's interests, he said.

He urged governments at all levels to attach great importance to boosting employment, help people who had difficulties in life, and ensure production safety and social stability.

Listed banks approved to try out bond trading

China has allowed listed commercial banks to participate in bond transactions on bourses, the securities regulator said yesterday.

Listed commercial banks can submit the applications to the Shanghai Stock Exchange or Shenzhen Stock Exchange after getting approval from the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), according to a joint announcement released by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and the CBRC.

During the trial period, commercial banks can trade bonds on the fixed-income platform of the stock exchanges, including treasury bonds, corporate bonds and enterprise bonds.

The bourses have been asked to provide a special place for commercial banks to trade bonds and give corresponding technical support. The participating banks are allowed to use only their own accounts for bond transactions.

The CBRC and CSRC will set up joint supervision systems to oversee the bond transactions of commercial banks, the announcement said.

The regulators will gradually enlarge the scope of the pilot units in commercial banks and perfect related regulations, the CSRC said, without elaborating on the detail of the pilot units

Nearly 30 percent investors plan to raise A-share investment

China's investor sentiment index fell to 103 in the fourth quarter of 2008 from 132 in the fourth quarter of 2007 due to the impact of the global financial fallout, according to the quarterly survey of investor sentiment index released by ING Group.

However, China's investor sentiment index climbed 17 percent compared with 88 in the third quarter of 2008.

Moving into 2009, investors in China will continue to hold the current portfolio with low-risks and come back to the stock market and the local property market.

in the first quarter of 2009, 34 percent of investors will hold cash or savings, 29 percent plan to raise investment in local stock market, and 29 percent will increase investment in local commune fund and trust fund, which is significantly higher than the 15 percent in the fourth quarter last year.

31 percent of them plan to expand investment in residential property in the first quarter of 2009 compared with the 22 percent in the fourth quarter last year

Hope the World a Paradise

Recently, I have been reading a book called "The Red Badge of Courage". There is one part which describes the war like this: "The thunder of the batteries was heard again. Here and there flags splashed bits of warm color over the dark lines of soldiers. Henry felt glad and excited. He listened to the noises that come from many directions. He realized then that the fighting was going on everywhere. As he looked around him, Henry felt a sudden flash of surprise at the pure blue sky and the sunlight glittering on the trees and fields. It surprised him to think that Nature was calmly going on with her business while men were doing their best to destroy each other."

I am deeply moved by this scene. Why do people become enemies? As the newspaper said, "The fact that every individual seeks his own fulfillment leads to competition and mistrust, thus to war. Men are selfish by nature. All desire, power, riches, knowledge and honor lead to war." I have the same idea with it. The war needs peace. The war only results in hate, fight, and just so much terrible things. I hope such things like what the USA have done to Iraq and Afghanistan will never happen again. There is little recourse in the world, but human beings are still wasting it without thinking it over. I am always imagining there will be an end to the world.

The world need more love…, as you know, the old and the young who are at the edge of the society really need people to pay attention to. Every time I see some beggars on my way to school, there was a gelling out of description coming out to my mind. Should I walk away from them? Should I just give them some money? Or…? I think if I give them some money, nothing will change and they will still be there. What they need is our society's concern.

I hope people will love each other and the world a paradise!

Reasons of Juvenile Delinquents

One of the most overriding events is the rising cases of juvenile delinquents. After deliberately meditating on it, I think there may be several reasons, as following:

On the one hand, education, I think, shouldn't be reluctant to burden the responsibility of these cases. Currently, when most people think of the word "education", they think of a pupil as a sort of animate sausage casing. Into this empty casing, the teachers are supposed to stuff "education". In this way, students were so stuffed with miscellaneous facts, with an indigestible mass of material, that they had no time to draw on their own resources, to use their own minds for analyzing and synthesizing, and evaluating this material. It is imaginable that how it would be when children find they have to confront the teachers with an ax to grind everyday. This way of education is undoubtedly tedious and futile. Genuine education, as Socrates knew more than two thousand years ago, is not inserting the suffings of information into a person, but rather eliciting knowledge from him, it is drawing out of what is in the mind. Only this way can steer the children toward a glorious future, instead of wandering in the dark corners of streets and bearing endless tediousness of unscrupulous lectures.

On the other hand, parents should also share a responsibility for these cases. As the epoch approaching, comparing to the past, parents nowadays confront more pressures. These pressures are so deeply intertwined that crises would sometimes be exploded in the parents, such as parents' separation, fathers' excessively alcoholic drinking. All these in their turns affect the children's mental characters to some extent imaginable. Therefore, children in this environment often find themselves stand at the brink of no cares and loves from their parents. Obviously, as surveys have displayed, children become the victims of the from-time-to-time crises between their parents.

In summary, after taking into account of these factors above, I have to proclaim that the time has come to rethink what the education really is for some educational workers and what our parents should do before their children. Only if the whole society pays more attention to the children-our nation's future, the annual number of the juvenile delinquents would be eventually vanished someday.

Resist the DINK Fad

Nowadays, one of the greatest changes in family life is that the 'DINK'(double income no kids) family structure is fashionable among many young couples. They decide not to have any children because they think that children bring more misery than joy. Does married couple without children have a better life really? I doubt about this point. In my opinion, these couples are not only shortsighted but also self-centered and selfish.
Undoubtedly, a married couple without children will lead a relatively free and comfortable life than those who have children, for they have been free from the trouble and responsibilities caused by children. They can put more energy in work, so they can get more opportunities in job. And because of no children to take care of off duty, they can comfort and please themselves utilizing all the money they earn and all their vacation following their own will. Surely, their life seems very romantic, arractive and pizazzy.
Though couples without children enjoy the freedom from the worries for children and can spend all the money they earn for their own, they can never experience the pleasure brought by children. The process of giving birth to children, bring them up and cultivating them is very interesting and wonderful. Through observing the growing process of babies and feeling their changes bit by bit, couples can get conception about how they themselves grow up, which is blank for all since the memory don't begin from birth. What's more, the children's growing is full of magic and miracle. The experience of raising children is unique and can't be substituted by anything else in the world.
Besides the experience and joy children bring, children can act as the most efficient lubricant for a family. After the honeymoon of the first happy year, the affection between couples will become steady and the trivial family affairs are prominent in family, so family conflicts are unavoidable. The case that marriage is broken only because of the petty trifle is habitual. With a child or children in a family, the common affection on child can promote the sentiment between couple. And for the sake of children, the two sides of the conflicts can easily reach a compromise or mutual understanding if there isn't something really serious. The children can bring more happiness for a family and reduce the frequency of quarrel.
From the viewpoint of society, those who choose to have no children are selfish and self-centered. They are avoiding the responsibility for both children and society. The development of society needs its members to bear, bring up and educate children regarding to the requirements of society. If everybody escapes from the responsibilities out of selfish considerations for society, there will be no human beings on the planet of earth. Furthermore, couples without children will be helpless when they are too old to help themselves. Then they will become the heavy burden of society. If such couples occupy a high proportion in society and exceed the degree that society can bear, the turbulence of society will become the deniable fact. Of course they can ask others for help. But who will look after them as the kin children do? They can never enjoy the reliable and timely care from their off springs, for "blood is thicker than water". Their old days will be very deplorable and miserable without the concern and attend of their children.
Don't be so shortsighted and selfish, look into future, we will find that having children is an instructive thing for ourselves as well as for society. However, take the family policy of China into consideration, as a responsible member of the human society, we should also limit the number of our children.

The Invisible Wall

I first fell in love with husband when we would sit and talk in the living room of my old apartment in front of the (ceiling-to-floor) windows with the long, white curtains, drinking cups of scalding, black coffee. We would just sit and talk-sometimes until sunrise. I was so completely thrilled to have finally found that one special person and our wedding way was the happiest day of my life.

However, it was not long after our honeymoon when my husband climbed into the tomb called "the office" and wrapped his mind in a shroud of paperwork and buried himself in clients, and I said nothing for fear of turning into a nagging wife. It seemed as if overnight an invisible wall had been erected between us.

When our daughter, Desiree was born she quickly became the center of my world. I watched her grow from infant to toddler, and I no longer seemed to care that my husband was getting busier and spending less time at home. Somewhere between his work schedule and our home and young daughter, we were losing touch with each other. That invisible wall was now being cemented by the mortar of indifference.

Desiree went off to preschool and I returned to college to finish my degree, and I tried to find myself in the courses I took; I complained with all the other young women on campus about men who are insensitive. Sometimes late at night I cried and begged the whispering darkness to tell me who I really was, and my husband lay beside snoring like a hibernating bear unaware of my winter.

Then tragedy struck our lives, when my husband's younger brother was killed on September 11, 2001, along with thousand of other innocent people. He made it out okay and spoke to his wife to say he was going back in to help those that were still trapped. He was identified only by the engraving on the inside of his wedding band.

Attending my brother's memorial service was an eye-opening experience for the both of us. For the first time, we saw our own marriage was almost like my in-laws. At the tragic death of the youngest son they could not reach out console one another. It seemed as if somewhere between the oldest son's first tooth and the youngest son's graduation they had lost each other. Their wedding day photograph of the young, happy, smiling couple on the mantle of their fireplace was almost mocking those two minds that no longer touched. They were living in such an invisible wall between them that the heaviest battering with the strongest artillery would not penetrate, when love dies it is not in a moment of angry battle or when fiery bodies lose their heat; it lies broken and panting and exhausted at the bottom of a wall it cannot penetrate.

Recently one night, my husband told of his fear of dying. Until then he had been afraid to expose his naked souls. I spoke of trying to find myself in the writings in my journal. It seemed as if each of us had been hiding our soul-searching from the other.

We are slowly working toward building a bridge―not a wall, so that when we reach out to each other, we do not find a barrier we cannot penetrate and recoil from the coldness of the stone or retreat from the stranger on the other side.

Think More about What you Have

One of the more pervasive and destructive mental tendencies I've seen is that of focusing on what we want instead of what we have. It doesn't seem to make my difference how much we have, we just keep expanding our list of desires, which guarantees we will remain dissatisfied. The mind-set that says "I'll be happy" when this desire is fulfilled is the same mind-set that will repeat itself once that desire is met.

We want this or that. If we don't get what we want, we keep thinking about all that we don't have and we remain dissatisfied. If we do get what we want, we simply recreate the same thinking in our new circumstances. So, despite getting what we want, we still remain unhappy. Happiness can't be found when we are yearning for new desires.

Luckily, there is a way to be happy. It involves changing the emphasis of our thinking from what we want to what we have. Rather than wishing you were able to take a vacation to Hawaii, think of how much fun you have had close to home. The list of possibilities is endless! Each time you notice yourself falling into the "I wish life were different" trap, back off and start over. Take a breath and remember all that you have to be grateful. When you focus not on what you want, but on what you have, you end up getting more of what you want anyway. If you focus on the good qualities of your spouse, she'll be more loving. If you are grateful for your job rather than complaining about it, you'll do a better job, be more productive, and probably end up getting a raise any-way. If you focus on ways to enjoy yourself around home rather than waiting to enjoy yourself in Hawaii, you'll end up having more fun. If you ever do get to Hawaii, you'll be in the habit of enjoying yourself. And, if by some chance you don't, you have a great life anyway.

Make a note of yourself to start thinking more about what you have than what you want. If you do, your life will start appearing much better than before. For perhaps the first time in your life, you'll know what it means to feel satisfied.

Free Download: Captain Fun "Hey Boy, Hey Girl" (Digikid 84 Remix)

French DJ Digikid 84 put together a fun remix of Captain Funk's "Hey Boy, Hey Girl." Captain Funk (aka Tatsuya Toe) is an Japanese electronic musician and DJ whose work ranges from very artsy, experimental pieces to slick synth pop.
Toe started his musical career after graduating from the University of Tokyo in 1998. He has been making music and playing big Japanese dance parties ever since. From Yokohama to Osaka, and from Kyoto to Sendai.
French electro outfit Digikid 84 decided to retool Captain Funk's new single "Hey Boy, Hey Girl" and turned the song into a glistening, '80s throwback synth pop tune. You can listen to Captain Funk's original here, which is totally fresh as well. It's somewhat reminiscent of Cooler Kids. Remember them? yesterday I lose my temper

When my colleague said, with his spit splashing everywhere, that women are realistic; women don't worry about life; women needn't work under pressure; all women have to do were to marry a prosperous man…I was really very angry at him, especially when he was just the college graduate several months ago. It was reasonable that he lacked social skills and work experience. However, what surprised me was that he was next to a bird in using the computer. Moreover, his behavior in daily work and life all showed me that he was definitely a silly guy-I was not familiar with him and had no interest to know more about him, but I said "life" here because he had always talked about his life saying so many girls so kind to him that he really didn't know how to refuse them, and because he had steamed bread as his meals in the office and brewed up a big bottle of three bags of soya-bean milk at the same time.

How could such a poor silly boy talk about women in such a subjective way! How many women had he ever met!

I just wanted to keep my mouth and ears shut off against him.

What am I doing now? Why is my life so tough? Why are my friends struggling for their own house and car?

Many women work better and earn more than men! Many women are single! Many women are independent!

Women have the right to pursue excellent men, because excellent men are positive, self-confident and respect others, which should be the human. Women are realistic but that should be people's attitude toward life. But to be correct, being realistic doesn't mean that women would judge a man merely by his property.

Maybe you, the silly boy, can find some, or even a lot of examples to verify your words. Nevertheless, these examples would just be a part of women and far away from being the majority.

Well, I am sorry that I might have been lost my temper by writing the above with some improper words. I am not going to argue with men at all. I believe in the cause and effect theory so I think I can understand all behavior of men and women. However, I reject absoluteness. That's why I lost my temper.

Sorry, I have always wanted to be rational, calm and gentle to everybody. I will try my best…

Red and Black

The flourishing commercial street, decorated by twinkling neon light, conspicuous advertisements, popular songs and fashionable teenagers, makes people almost forget that night is black.
Rambling around the multi-colored street, my friends and I enjoy the beautiful night scene proudly as a native of this city. Behind us, there is a group of foreign travelers who are obviously astonished by the new look of the ancient city. One minute later, such placid harmony is completely destroyed by several five or six-year-old grimy kids.
A loud noise captures our ears. When we turn round, we blush for what is happening before our eyes. Four or five little kids, some boys and some girls, hold foreign travelers' legs in their arms. They are in same dirty clothes, a bunch of roses in hands. The travelers are frightened at first. Then, when they are aware that what the kids want to do is to force them to buy roses, and the worse is that they cannot move if they refuse to do so, disdainful countenance appears. Among these travelers, a mother and a little daughter, maybe has the same age with the Chinese boy who are pestering the mother are in troubles. Obviously, it is beyond the mother's ability to shake off the boy, and at the same time, to protect her daughter. The clear eyes of the little girl, besides fear and puzzle, also reflect something that cannot be totally understood. Roses, swinging in wind, have lost its romantic meaning earlier and little by little red is licked up by the black night.
All the things that are happening behind us are not a surprise. We keep on walking forward. The usual way is to pass them hurriedly otherwise people have to be subdued to the kids' tangle. This moment, nothing is remained in our minds but the clear eyes of the little girl.

Human Cloning is Beneficial to Society

Human cloning is no longer a dream in the wake of the birth of the first cloned sheep, Dolly, in 1996. Since that moment, not only the scientists in the field of biotechnology, but also the people over the whole world, have focused their attentions on whether humanity should be cloned or not. Undoubtedly, human cloning has already become the most controversial issue for a period. But seemingly, people haven't got tired of the endless debates on this topic. From my viewpoint, the most crucial consideration during the debate is if human cloning can bring about good more than harm to society or not. And I think human cloning has done the former.
Apparently, one of the well-known benefits brought about by human cloning is medical advance. Once a cell is duplicated using the genetic materials derived from its host, the cell can acts as a primary cell which are capable of dividing and differentiating into specialized cells such as liver cells as well as nerve cells, and then develop into some kinds of vital organs. This sounds incredible, in particular to those who long for transplants to prolong their lives, or to restore their locomotory ability, for instance, by the installation of a new spinal cord. Apart from this, during the process of nurturing the cloned embryo, scientists can extend their scope of knowledge about the mysterious causes and mechanism of certain fatal and incurable diseases like Parkinson's disease, cancer and AIDs. On the basis of such precious scientific discoveries, scientists are able to explore more ways to combat the diseases above afflicting millions of innocent people and save their lives. Furthermore, According to many scientists' statements, the ageing process could be hindered if human cloning proceeded successfully. This means a 50-year-old man could look like an active youngster aged 25 with no any wrinkle on his face, and the impractical dream of extending the average lifespan of humanity to 120 years could ultimately become reality. I really want to ask the opponents if they have taken such a broad range of advantages into account carefully before making any objection?
Usually, the opponents dismiss human cloning in fears of the improper applications of human cloning on reproductive purposes. They are worried that certain ambitious terrorists would replicate themselves so secretly that their clones could inherit their goals and carry on doing evil after their deaths. If this became reality, peace would vanish from the world. Yes, no one can deny the possibility of this disastrous outcome induced by human cloning. Nevertheless, are they just a group of sensitive people overwhelmed by the exaggerated fears of the potential impacts of human reproductive cloning which may not come true at last? Why don't they think of the considerable scientific advances would be resulted on condition that talented, intelligent and creative scientists like Einstein were replicated by harnessing cloning technology. Provided that your beloved was dead in a traffic accident and your can't endure the grief, would you adopt the cloning technology to make your beloved alive again? Your answer must be "yes"! So, Could those opposed to human cloning because of exaggerated fears shut their mouth up? Their fears are merely their childish imagination merely.
Another group of opponents to human cloning argues that human cloning techniques are so premature that a range of abnormalities of the cloned ones cannot be avoided. Right, what they claim is not erroneous. Accordance with the example they quoted, the first cloned sheep, Dolly, is the only exceptional case of success among 277 embryos while the rest either fails to develop or is born with a series of deformities. Even so, Dolly is discovered to have arthritis (a disease of premature ageing). Therefore, it is reasonable that more serious problems may arise for complicated human beings. Yet, success comes from continual attempts. As similar as other great scientific breakthroughs, a heap of obstacles should be eliminated before the experiment had paid off. For example, if people in 1970s had banned vitro fertilization because of fears of commercializing human reproduction, millions of people would have not existed now. Therefore, if such sorts of abnormalities are inevitable if human cloning have to go on. But, while the fruit reaps, the highly considerable benefits would entirely outweigh the impacts.
Every scientific breakthrough can be either constructive or destructive to humanity. It greatly depends on people 's attitudes towards it, whether they use it for good or evil. As long as all nations on the Earth reach consensus on strictly controlling the use of human cloning, human cloning will only do more good than harm.

Listen to Kanye West "Love Lockdown" (My Dear Disco Remix)

Yes! Get ready for another Kanye "Love Lockdown" remix.
Remixers, producers, DJ, singers and other fine creative folks sure are having blast with West's "Love Lockdown." It should come as no surprise as the minimal, downbeat production stylings of the original lends itself perfectly to proper tune ups.
Personally, I think this My Dear Disco remix blows all the other ones out of the water. Yes. It's that good. It's blazing hot. The difference between this new remix and many of the other ones is that My Dear Disco re-recorded part of the track using live instruments that give the remix that potent disco-nu punch.
My Dear Disco is a band you should know about. The Ann Arbor, MI based group blends their brand of disco punk with influences from Daft Punk while also incorporating jazz and even classic "Scottish backgrounds," according to a press release. Check out their MySpace page to learn all about them.

Free Download: Nomi "Fun Girl"

Brooklyn-based artist Nomi traveled all over the world last year as part of DFA's Hercules & Love Affair, which is easily one of the most compelling new dance acts of 2008. You may remember her lead vocals on "Blind" and that incredible debut with Antony on "You Belong," which invoked memories of a Yazoo-era Alison Moyet. Now, Nomi is getting ready to hit the charts on her own with the upcoming release of her digital EP "Borough Gypsy."
Nomi explains in an interview with the Nottingham Evening Post that it was Antony who introduced her to Andrew Butler of Hercules & Love Affair, which ultimately led to the collaboration. "Antony is just a genius. Antony can do anything," she says. "Anything that makes sense, and that comes from an honest emotional place, Antony can relate to. Antony says it's the spirit."
"Borough Gypsy" will feature a slew of interesting collaborations including a duet with the king of hip hop's underground Ill Bill. She is also working with musicians/producers Morgan Wiley and Andrew Raposo who are also known for their work with Hercules & Love Affair and DFA's Automato.
Check out a totally guilt-free download of Nomi's "Fun Girl," a gritty, midtempo track that is equally spooky and mesmerizing. She's on to something big for 2009.

The Trees Outside my Window

From the window of my room, I could see a tall cotton-rose hibiscus. In spring, when green foliage was half hidden by mist, the tree looked very enchanting dotted with red blossom. This inspiring neighbor of mine often set my mind working. I gradually regarded it as my best friend.
Nevertheless, when I opened the window one morning, to my amazement, the tree was almost bare beyond recognition as a result of the storm ravages the night before. Struck by the plight, I was seized with a sadness at the thought “all the blossom is doomed to fall”. I could not help sighing with emotion: the course of life never runs smooth, for there are so many ups and downs, twists and turns. The vicissitudes of my life saw my beloved friends parting one after another. Isn’t it similar to the tree shedding its flowers in the wind?
This event faded from my memory as time went by. One day after I came home from the countryside, I found the room stuffy and casually opened the window. Something outside caught my eye and dazzled me. It was a plum tree all scarlet with blossom set off beautifully by the sunset. The surprise discovery overwhelmed me with pleasure. I wondered why I had no idea of some unyielding life sprouting over the fallen petals when I was grieving for the hibiscus.
When the last withered petal dropped, all the joyful admiration for the hibiscus sank into oblivion as if nothing was left, until the landscape was again ablaze with the red plum blossom to remind people of life’s alternation and continuance. Can’t it be said that life is actually a symphony, a harmonious composition of loss and gain.
Standing by the window lost in thought for a long time, I realized that no scenery in the world remains unchanged. As long as you keep your heart basking in the sun, every dawn will present a fine prospect for you to unfold and the world will always be about new hopes.

The Difference between Love and Like

In front of the person you love, your heart beats faster, but in front of the person you like, you get happy.
In front of the person you love, winter seems like spring, but in front of the person you like, winter is just beautiful winter.
If you look into the eyes of the one you love, you blush, but if you look into the eyes of the person you like, you smile.
If front of the person you love, you can’t say everything on your mind, but in front of the person you like, you can.
In front of the person you love, you tend to get shy, but in front of the person you like, you can show your own self.
You can’t look straight into the eyes of the one you love, but you can always smile into the eyes of the one you like.
When the one you love is crying, you cry with him, but when the one you like is crying, you end up comforting.
The feeling of love starts from the eye, and the feeling of like starts from the ears.
So if you stop liking a person you used to like, all you need to do is cover your ears. But if you try to close your eyes, love turns into a teardrop and remains in your heart forever after.

Free Download: The Bird & The Bee "Don't Stop The Music" (Rihanna Cover)

Sweden's Friday Bridge is somewhat reminiscent of the sweet, sun-baked California electro pop of The Bird & The Bee. That duo rears its pretty little head again this week with a cover of Rihanna's "Don't Stop The Music." This jazzy remake should keep fans entertained until the group releases their new album, titled "Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future," on Blue Note Records on January 27.

Free Download: Heads We Dance "Computer Love"

Emerging British synth-pop outfit Heads We Dance has recorded an accomplished revamp of Kraftwerk's classic "Computer Love," a sublime song about finding love through technology. Kraftwerk's timeless original shines in simplicity with its gorgeous synth arrangement. Heads We Dance added some sci-fi elements, male/female vocals and a dark, driving bass beat to make the song their own.
The cover is Heads We Dance's contribution to the fantastic Rewind2 Project that is organized by the Buffetlibre DJs. Rewind2 features loads of exciting new artists covering their favorite tracks from the '70s, '80s and '90s. Heads We Dance are joined by artists such as Au Revoir Simone, Bonde Do Role, Little Boots, Sidechains, Miami Horror, Justin Faust, We Have Band and Freezepop.

Australian DJ Muscles went through his big vault and dug up his remix of M.I.A.'s "Hombre" that he completed in 2005 "way before most you fan boys/girls had heard of her," he writes on his blog. Glad this remix is finally seeing the light of day. It is a really fun, kicky electro remix of M.I.A.'s spunky original. Get the remix here.

Free Download: Friday Bridge "Shanghai Shipping"

Swedish music magazine Digfi argues that Friday Bridge's new album is the "best pop album in Sweden in the last twenty years." That's a huge compliment for the Stockholm duo that ranks them beyond Robyn, The Ark, Alcazar and, of course, The Herreys.
The Stockholm-based pop group is the teaming of Ylva Lindberg and Niklas Gustafsson. Founded in 2004, the group released their debut "Intricacy" in 2007, as well as numerous EPs, 7"s and compilation tracks. The group's mission is crystal-clear. Their music is not an outlet for my personal feelings or experiences. "Melodical perfection is something Friday Bridge is most concerned with," songstress Ylva explains in an interview. "It is about writing a really effective, catchy pop song. It's for both myself and others I guess"
I don't think Friday Bridge is the biggest Swedish pop thing in 20 years, but I do agree that Friday Bridge have put together an album of elegant electro-pop that is sleek, stylish and very much deserves your attention. (Still trying to make sense of the song title though.)

Free Download: Twiggy Frostbite "Heroes"

This song gives me chills. Everytime.
Get your guilt-free MP3 copy of "Heroes" by Swedish pop outfit Twiggy Frostbite. It's a funny name for a serious pop band that presents all that you'd come to expect from quality Swedish pop music minus the poptastic frivolity.
"Heroes" is delicate and sincere, and features a great melodic hook that is a little haunting. Imagine a crystal clear Swedish winter sky at sunset. "Heroes" shines brightly likes those famous Northern lights. Just very pretty.
Twiggy Frostbite has its roots in Gävle, Sweden and shares members with the Deer Tracks and Grizzly Twister. Their debut album “Through Fire” will arrive in the winter of 2009.

Free Download: Don Juan Dracula "Take Me Home"

Check out a totally guilt-free download of Don Juan Dracula's new '80s inspired, electro-poppy single "Take Me Home." Don Juan Dracula are a Norwegian pop band who released their self-titled debut internationally a few months ago. in Norway, they recently released the much-anticipated follow up that debut that was produced with the help of Stephen Hague (Pet Shop Boys, OMD, New Order, Erasure) as well as producer Ed Buller (Suede, Pulp).
The stylish quintet has been playing a few shows outside of Norway as well to promote their debut album. They made quite an impression when they appeared during the CMJ festival in New York City in 2008. The purists at Pitchfork called them "divinely silly with their "synchronized 'boy band' dance" while adding that their "new romantic synth-glam is fun enough on its own, but when augmented by matching white suits, a keytar, and the aforementioned shenanigans, it achieved levels of Darkness-like glory."

You Must Watch This: Roisin Murphy on MTV Logo

My pals at MTV Logo invited Roisin Murphy to their studios to present their weekly NewNowNext music show in the last week of December. With all the holiday festivities at the end of the year you might have forgotten to tune in and see a really fun interview with Roisin interspersed with music videos.
Watch the entire show here. Some out outtakes:
Roisin about fashion: "I guess I'm playful with clothing. It's not connected to my music. It is just another creative outlet for me." Roisin about dance music: "I love dance music. It is the mainstream kind of music that embraces new technology." Roisin about having so many gay fans: "I don't like to ruminate on it. It's like putting people with a certain sexuality in a box, in one market. I find that a little distasteful to be honest.
Roisin about her music in strange places: "I have a song called 'Pure Pleasureseeker' that is used as the theme music for a TV show about gay animals (. . .) There's gay activity in the animal kingdom and they do it to my music!"
You gotta love her wit and dry humor. Irish through and through.

Exclusive Video Premiere: Private "Killer On The Dancefloor"

Private, Denmark's finest electro-pop trio, is back with a video for their brand-new single "Killer On The Dancefloor." The video was directed by Kristian Hoeck and produced by Zentropa. Together they created the perfect, creepy visual aesthetic for the song's mysterious and killer hooks that are just oh-so poptastic. (Thanks to the band for giving ArjanWrites.com the first look.)

New Year's wish

[2008:The turning point of my fate]
The year of 2008 is unusual and important for me!
My Sadness:
I failed at the entrance of Postgraduation examination...
I yiled to the pressure of my parents, and found a work which wasn't my favorite...
I must say goodbye to someone who make me cry and sad,and I must let some memories away from me...
On the other hand,Our country also has suffered a lot...
there was the snow disaster, the series of incidents to obstruct the Beijing OlympicGames, the Great May 12th Earthquake, the successful holding of the Olympics, the 30th anniversary of China's reform andopening to the outside world......
by contrast,my sadness seem to triviality and meaningless.

My Happiness:
The work enviroment is basically satisfying, and in this way,I can make time to learn English and do something I like.
The work time is fixed, although sometimes I am very busy and crazy. But many times I left as soon as OffDuty.
Many times,The life of my own is lonely and boring, but I often find some interesting things to do.I also make efforts to improve my English, such as taking the BEC examination and write English blogs like this.
I believe I can insist on and on,and I never give up! [2009:Make a wish]
Wish the world is pace, and don't have the war any more...
Wish all the people have a better life...
Wish my families are happy and healthy...
Wish all my friends are successul in work and study, and have a bright future...
Wish myself are stronger and stronger, insist realizing my dream...
Lucky...

please Tell your mother your love

John had been on the road visiting clients for more than three weeks. He couldn’t wait to get back to Ohio to see his wife and children. It was coming up on Mother’s Day, and he usually tried to make it “back home”, but this year he was just too tired. He was in a small town just outside of Little Rock when he drove by a flower shop. He said to himself, “I know what I will do; I’ll send Mom some roses.”
He went into the small shop and saw a young man talking to the clerk. “How many roses can I get for six dollars, ma’am?” the boy asked. The clerk was trying to explain that roses were expensive. Maybe the young man would be happy with carnations1.
“No. I have to have roses,” he said. “My Mom was sick so much last year and I didn’t get to spend much time with her. I want to get something special. It has to be red roses, because that’s her favorite.” He was emphatic2.
The clerk looked up at John and was just shaking her head. Something inside of John was touched by the boy’s voice. He wanted to get those roses so badly. John had been blessed in his business, and he looked at the clerk and silently mouthed that he would pay for the boy’s roses.
The clerk looked at the young man and said, “Okay, I will give you a dozen red roses for your six dollars.” The young man almost jumped into the air. He took the flowers and ran from the store. It was worth the extra thirty-five dollars just to see that kind of excitement.
John ordered his own flowers and had the clerk be sure that delivery would include a note telling his mother how much he loved her. As he drove away from the shop, he was feeling very good. He caught a light about two blocks3 from the shop. As he waited at the light, he saw the young boy walking down the sidewalk. He watched him cross the street and enter a park through two huge gates. Suddenly, he realized it wasn’t a park. It was a cemetery4. He could see the young man turn in there by the gate and walk along the fence.
The light changed, and John slowly crossed the intersection5. He pulled over6 and on an impulse坰7 got out and began to follow the boy down the fence line. John was on the sidewalk, thirty or forty steps behind the boy, who walked inside the cemetery fence. The young man stopped by a small monument and went to his knees. He carefully laid the roses on the grave and began to sob. John felt like an intruder8 but he couldn’t leave. He stared at the little boy’s heaving9 body and listened to his muted10 crying.
As he cried, he heard the young man speak, “Mommy, oh Mommy, why didn’t I tell you how much I love you? Why didn’t I tell you one more time? Jesus, please, find my Mommy. Tell my Mommy I love her.”
John turned, tears in his eyes, and walked back to his car. He drove quickly to the florist11 and told her he would take the flowers personally. He wanted to be sure and tell his mother one more time just how much he loved her.

my Past.Now.Future

[Past——sweet memory about University]
I come to NanJing to attend my University in July 2004.That year,I was a shy and know-nothing little girl. That was also my third time to NanJing, everything and everyone is stange to me.Mum sent me to school and then left, leaving me alone in the completely unknow enviroment.
The time of University life gone by day by day,and I had so many home buddies(闺中密友) and sworn followers(死党).That was a enjoyable and unforgettable time,it always reminded me of doing a good and excellent student, girl, even worker in the futrue days.
I learnt a lot,and grew up a lot.
In my last year of University,I took the entrance of postgraduate examination.I made great effort to review, and I was also full of hope and exceptation. When the result went out,I hardly believe the fact.Yeah...I failed.
The next times,I was hunting for job like my many schoolmates. But it is not easy to find a well-contend job.At last,I worked in a software company, though I was not interested in it.But I had no idea that time, and everything was terrible for me.
[Now——New-brand life]
After working in the company,my life had experienced great changs.I am stranded and sometimes land myself in deep troubles.I don't understand the technology well, and I don't like writing program.I hate facing computer everyday.
Besides complainning my situation,I find the salary also can't satisfy my basic requirement.I am so depressed and sadness.I don't have enough money to pay my house rent, and also can't go shopping and buy beautiful clothes.I can't erasure the rough and penniless memories forever.
Since now,my life have stepped into the line and everything seems to become good for me.But that terrible memoriey often reminds me that I should fight, and strive for more good life!
Many time,I am so confused and puzzled.I can't know what should I do and How can I do to change this situation.I work as a computer programmer, which make me get freaked out(抓狂) and gloomy.I like English, and dream to enter a top-ranking forien enterprise.
I know it's a long way to realize my dream. But I will not give up.
[future——I am who I am]
The future is surrounded by densy fog,and I loose my way sometimes. But I believe I can,and I am who I am.

come back my love

I am extremely happy to find that the site of the blog has retuned to normal!
As you might never know how I felt during the past three months, It is something like you love someone ,yet there is a deep gap in between, and no way to reach her.I have a burning desire to keep a record of what ervents are happening to me.

My pent feeling accumulates all the time, which makes me feel uneasy.I want to write down something , I want to express my feeling, and I need a space which belongs totally to me where I can murmur to oneself.

When it is not availabl,I can turn to nowhere to express my feeling ,thoughts, thus many beautiful essays disappeared before they were ever written. What a pity!Provided there were no blocks of the site, I would have produced many high-quality English essays, there is no doubt about that.

I came to realize that Time waits for no one, nor does inspiratioin.Once lost, it will never come back to you. I think there are a lot of things which has the same quality, youth, love, chance, to name just a few.One beautiful sentence which stands out in my memory is "Pick the flower when it is the right season, otherwise, you will only break some branches when the blossom season is over, sighing deeply. So it is advisable to treasure the moment!

Free Download: Ladyhawke "Magic" (Cates & DPL Remix)

OM Records' wonderboys Cates & DPL have put together an electro-tinged deep house remix of Ladyhawke's "Magic." It sounds nothing like the original (which is one of the highlights on her fantastic debut album) but lovers of dubby club cuts will be in for a treat.

Free Download: Alex Moulter "Meridian"

I totally agree with Josh that Alex Moulter's music-art piece "Exodus" is one of the most underrated of releases of the year. The ambitious "Exodus" is a mind-blowing sci-fi/fantasy concept album that falls between the classic synthesizer palette of Vangelis and thrusting post-modern disco of Daft Punk. Metropolis meets Tron meets Jean Michael Jarre meets Giorio Moroder.
Instead of randomly lining up thirteen songs, Moulton concepted an entire musical storyline that follows all the plot twists and turns. The result is an incredibly compelling space opera, an epic sci-fi adventure for the dancefloor. The songs are presented continuously like a DJ set, but they're also like key scenes for a film that listeners can make up while listenting to the album.
The iTunes generation of artists no longer develops albums that present one, coherent story, but rather emphasizes the production of songs that can be marketed as singles. "Although I understand the reasons why, it makes me sad that the album format is breathing its last breath,” Moulton explains in a press release. “So just as the final nail is being driven into the coffin, I wanted to honor the tradition of the great epic concept albums of the late ’70s."
"It’s possible I may be among the last generation that spent hours listening to LPs, staring at gatefold covers and imagining the world that the music painted in my head, and that’s the experience I wanted to recreate with Exodus. I believe those moments turn someone into a real music lover—it doesn’t come from listening to singles," he adds.
Moulton worked with a slew of collaborators to put together "Exodus," including Grammy-winning engineer Marc Urselli and Nilesh Patel of Daft Punk and Chemical Brothers fame. The disc's incredible artwork was was created by legendary fantasy artists Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell. (Click here to download the CD on Lala.com, or purchase a limited-edition gatefold CD at Amazon.com.)

What's Rockin' Holland This Week?

I'm wrapping up my time here in Holland with packing up my suitcase tonight, filling up my iPod for the flight home and saying lots of goodbyes. Yesterday, I went to the Bijenkorf in Amsterdam, which is one of the few department stores here in town. Lots of books, fashion, modern furniture and, surprise, a very nice selection of CDs.
Check out the photo above of the store's weekly CD top 10. Keane, Amy McDonald, Seal and The Killers are big sellers here. (Note the prices of CDs in Holland. They cost almost 20 euros each. That converts to almost 30 U.S. dollars! People that complain about the CD prices in the States are getting such a deal.)

Free Download: Colin Munroe "As Much As You"

While I'm flying across the Atlantic today, I leave you with an excellent new track by Colin Munroe. His "As Much As You" is near-perfect pop fare - it is optimistic, accessible and instantly catchy.
Produced in collaboration with Baltimore DJ Blaqstarr, the song is taken from his new LP "Colin Munroe Is The Unsung Hero" that features Munroe's experimentation with different genres and moods. That may all sound a little cliche, but Munroe's effort is truly diverse and even endearing at times. Listen to "As Much As You" and you'll find that his sound is polished, totally fresh and ready for prime time.
He started it all on his grand father's attic by assembling lots of different instruments to toy around with. The LP was finalized in Atlanta with the help of Dallas Austin who understood Monroe's vision of breaking down barriers. "I didn't make any plans to incorporate any particular genres. I just do what feels natural. I think I'm part of the first generation that is truly without genre barriers," Monroe says in an interview.
"It used to be that kids were rock kids, hip hop kids, punk kids and so on. But these days everyone's playlists have everything on them and we are able to understand and move comfortably between genres without it seeming fake or forced," he adds.

Free Download: Hermanos Inglesos "Komodo"

I've been in Amsterdam since Wednesday and it has been great to celebrate New Year's Eve here and spend time with family and old friends. One of the things I like to do when I'm here is to turn on the radio and watch MTV to see what music is popular with the Dutch. In the States it is mostly rock and hip hop that dominates the charts, but here it is pop and dance music that fills the airwaves.
No wonder that DJs like Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, JunkieXL and Tiesto are considered bonafide "rockstars" here in The Netherlands and in other parts of Europe.
While on the topic of European dance music, check out a few promos from hotly-tipped Belgian DJ duo Hermanos Inglesos. They are real life brothers Cedric and Didier Engels, resident DJs at the famous Culture Club in Ghent (also home of Soulwax and The Glimmers).
Newly signed to Fine Day Records, Hermanos Inglesos are turning heads over here with "Komodo," a kicky electro house track with an irresistible sub-bass groove. The release comes with head-nodding remixes provided by excellent French producer The Toxic Avenger, label mates Plastic Operator and German mad geniuses Acidkids. Let's dance.

Free Download: Ultra Nate "Free" (Sidechains Remix)

Sidechains is one of the hottest new DJ talents to emerge from Spain. You must check out his creamy remix of the gay dancefloor classic "Free" by Ultra Nate.
His revamp of the 1997 smash happened during some soundboard experimentations in his Barcelona studio. "At the beginning I had the main riff of the song but it needed some vocals," he says about the production. "I took Ultra Nate's acapella just to see what kind of vocals could work on it. And at the end it fit so well that I decided to make the whole remix." Gracias, Sidechains.

Free Download: Electric Valentine "Automatic"

After leaking a few tracks over the last few months and a touring stint with Ultraviolet Sound, emerging L.A. synth-pop outfit Electric Valentine have finally released their new debut EP on iTunes. Titled "Friends With Benefits," the EP features collaborations with Breathe Carolina, Metroid and Jeffree Starr to create a whole lotta pop goodness. The EP's bonus track is "Automatic," a hard-driving, melodic electro-pop stomper filled with buzzing synth effects and Lauren's computerized vocals. Fans of the '80s will be in for a big, fat, tremendous treat.

Exclusive World Premiere: Superjupiter "Pop"

This is song is so insanely catchy. It's unreal.
It's super glam, super disco, super gay, super pop. It's just super everything. Almost over the top.
Following the European success of 2006's "You Know," Superjupiter's "Pop" is like a hearty Nordic stew of Scissor Sisters, Van Halen, Prince, Erasure and little bit of The Darkness. Warning: "Pop" is not for the faint of heart. Its tight disco beat, glammed up synth pumps and larger than life chorus might spin you right into cardiac arrest on the dance floor.
The song is the title track from Superjupiter's forthcoming new EP that will be available early 2009. That EP is prelude to a full-length album that is slated for release later in 2009. The masterminds behind Superjupiter are Norwegian duo Terje (vocals) and Hal 2000 (guitars). "Pop" was co-produced by Manhattan Clique (Katy Perry, Iglu & Hartly, Goldfrapp), while mixing desk madness comes via Drew Griffiths (Iron Maiden, The Darkness).
WORLD PREMIERE Listen to "Pop" by Superjupiter:

Candy Perfume Girl

Oh la la.
Check out the glamerous cover art for Kelly Clarkson's new single "My Life Would Suck Without You." With this Revlon-inspired artwork I'm incredibly curious what the song will sound like. From the look of it, it seems more tongue in cheek Katy Perry than it is raw & rowdy Pink. I definitely like my Kelly Clarkson with some grit, so let's see what her new Clive Davis approved sound brings. The song should hit radio late next week and will probably leak online sooner.

Free Download: Marina & The Diamonds "Obsessions"

Meet Marina & The Diamonds, another incredible hot new talent you should be looking out for in 2009. The group will be hitting the scene around Valentine's Day with their totally brilliant debut single "Obsessions," which is a milli-inch away from being a perfect pop song. It's so good that that gives me chills everytime I play it.
Produced by Liam Howe, the song is an impressive slice of slice of melodic, orchestral pop that prominently features Marina's distinct vocals that will remind some of you of Kate Bush and Tori Amos. "We’ve got obsessions, I want to erase every nasty thought that bugs me every day of every week" Marina shares with us in her warm, dark timbre in the chorus of the song. The release of "Obsessions" will be accompanied by a lovely read-for-music-television video that was directed by Tim Brown
After people like Lykke Li and Robyn paved the way for indie, left-field pop stars to emerge in 2008, Marina will carry the torch for exciting new pop music in 2009.

Free Download: Heroes of the Dancefloor "Same Scandal" (Sam Dillon Remix)

"Same Scandal" is a track taken from the second Heroes of the Dancefloor LP that was released last month. Heroes of the Dancefloor is a musical project that was established by Gary Alesbrook, Alex Hutchins, Dan Moore, James Morton, Ben Waghorn and Mamazu that will benefit homeless charities in New York City. A hundred percent of the record's proceeds will be donated to Picture The Homeless and Coalition Of The Homeless.
When the people of Heroes of the Dancefloor witnessed a very pregnant and crying woman on the streets begging for money, they felt they had to do something. With their music connections and compassion, the group pulled together the Heroes of The Dancefloor project to help out this worthy cause. The group's first disc of benefited homeless charities in San Francisco and the proceeds of the next album will go to charities in New Orleans.

Free Download: Gramercy Arms "This Christmastime"

I'm sure many of you are finishing up work and getting ready for the holidays (and hopefully have some time off as well). This is one of my favorite times of the year. It's always a very nostalgic experience for me with Christmas lights everywhere, non-stop holiday music on the radio and a packed social schedule to meet with friends and re-connect with family members.
A perfect song for the nostalgia of the season is Gramercy Arms' folky "This Christmastime" that features the sweet, delicate vocals from Mascott's Kendall Jane Meade.
New York's Gramercy Arms is not only celebrating the season with this special guilt-free download, but the quartet is also celebrating the release of their self-titled debut album this week. The disc (and band name) was named after an imposing Art Deco apartment block at East 22nd Street in Manhattan, and is a celebration of New York in its dirty - beautiful splendor.

Listen to Britney Spears "Circus" (Stalin & Malin Remix)

After revamping Katy Perry's "Hot & Cold," the guys from Stalin & Malin have another nice, little surprise for pop aficionados. The Swedish duo have turned Britney Spears' new single "Circus" inside out and created a ultra-smooth, mid-tempo ballad version of the song with a driving new synth arrangement. This alternate version may even turn some of the haters into admirers of this song.

Time for something a little more crunchy...
RAN/RUN is a brand-new project from Australian producers Pete Jones and Ryan Walsh. The two put out a new EP filled with atmospheric gems that takes influences from pop, rock, '60s psychedelia and classic salsa.
The entire disc perfectly combines the calculated qualities of electronica with the melodic sensibilities of analogue instrumentation and Jones' distinct vocals. Most notably, the group didn't polish their songs to studio perfection, which resulted in a raw and authentic vibe. Check out the guilt-free MP3 download of "Beaches" (with that propulsive synth rhythm and catchy vocal harmonies) to hear what I mean. It's very good.
Two two production wizards met at their first day of college where Pete studied sound production/engineering and Ryan was a composition/conducting major. They bonded over their love of music and played together in several bands during their time in school. After graduation, they went separate ways only to re-connect a few years later with a plan to record music together as RAN/RUN.The beginnings of RAN/RUN's debut EP were written in and around Sydney, Brisbane, Caracas and Bogota before being finished by the two of them in Pete's studio.

Free Download: J*Davey "Mister Mister" and "No More"

Finally! A sign of life from Los Angeles electro-funksters J*Davey.
After the duo was signed to Warner Brothers in late 2006, I was hoping for a big media launch around this time, but it has been so been so terribly quiet since they released their mixtape this summer. They really should be all over MTV2, Fuse, VH1 Spin, Blender and other major music outlets. They're that good.
When I first saw J*Davey perform at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, I was totally blown away by the group. I felt I was looking at something so new, so fresh and so totally captivating. It was the music, the styling and Jack Davey's totally enigmatic delivery. J*Davey is the real deal. "We aim to be a black version of the Eurythmics—strong lady in the forefront, and the cool guy who just rocks out in the back," Jack Davey explained in an interview Philadelphia Weekly earlier this year.
After independently putting out a few tracks and a double disc mixtape, the group has now released an EP to prep the masses before they unleash even bigger and bolder things. I'm not sure about the status of their deal with WB, but as long as we keep hearing new music periodically it doesn't really matter. Their rise to fame might just as well happen organically, from the ground up.
Check out a couple of totally guilt-free MP3 downloads to get a taste for J*Davey. Their music is best described as a peppy brew of '80s inspired, space aged electro-funk that is mostly reminiscent of vintage Prince. The steamy vocals and lyrical confidence of Jack Davey and the bleeps, drums, and melodies of Brook D'Leau give J*Davey's music a unique style that has me sold.

The Killers and Their Amazing Bonus Track

One of my favorite new Killers tracks is not even included on the regular album version of "Day & Age." It's "Tidal Wave," a lushly romantic synth pop ballad that is so incredibly moving. The song was only made availabe on iTunes as a bonus track. Hardcore fans who purchased the physical disc ran out of luck unfortunately.
The song presents a grand sonic landscape with its sweeping, airy synths, Flowers' fragile vocals and his lyrics about two young lovers and their "forbidden love."
In interviews, Flowers states that "Tidal Wave" is inspired by David Bowie's "Drive-In Saturday" and Roy Orbison's "I Drove All Night." I've always thought that Flowers' vocals resemble Obinson's and it is very noteable on this track. The sonics of "Tidal Wave" also remind me of the Pet Shop Boys and even a little bit of a-ha. (While on the topic of a-ha, Killers fans must check out this old video of Brandon Flowers. Wait until it hits the 0:55 second mark.)
Regardless of all the comparisons and inspirations, "Tidal Wave" is just a gorgeous pop ballad with Mr. Flowers giving it his all. And just that makes me weak in the knees.

Free Download: Futurecop! Vs. Ciara "Fast Forward 1-2 Step"

Futurecop! are 26 year-old Londoners Manzur Qbal and Peter Caroll. They recently were signed to Fatboy Slims' record label South Fried that is also the home of Armand van Helden, the BPA, Black Ghosts and Crookers. In the North America, Futurecop! is signed to Franki Chan's hipster record label iHEARTCOMIX. On January 20, Futurecop! is releasing their debut EP, titled "The Unicorn and the Lost City of Alvograth."
Futurecop embraces everything good about the '80s. "I'm in love with 1980s pop culture. My friends used to think it was really weird," Iqbal explains in an interview with Metro UK. "We absorbed so much of the culture in our formative years,' adds Carrol. 'Teen movies, sci-fi films and cartoons, the outrageous fashion, Cyndi Lauper. And we love the polished, synth-pop sound that defined the decade's music. It really shows in what we do now. Our sound is heavily influenced by that."
Check out a hot, little mash up they produced of their track "Fast Forward" and Ciara's smash "1-2 Step" to get a good taste of Futurecop! It's synthastic! Yummy.

Listen to Keane "The Lovers Are Losing" (CSS Remix)

The new CSS remix of Keane's new single "The Lovers Are Losing" is so fresh and so much fun. I hear cowbell! I hear guitars! The band should release this little tropical wonder as an album bonus track or B-side. It totally fits the gusto of "Perfect Symmetry," one of the best LPs of 2008. Ch-ch-check it out.

The latest and greatest news is that I am going to Rock Im Park in beginning of June. Can’t wait for: Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Prodigy, Disturbed and many others.

Warren Haynes Christmas Jam | 20th Anniversary, Lineup

The hardest working man in music, Warren Haynes, is back with the 20th year of his annual Christmas Jam. Though I’d pay a lot of money to go back in time and see all of the canadian tuxedos that people wore in 1988, this year looks like it could be a great event. This year’s X-Mas Jam will span two nights for the first time in its history and as always proceeds from the shows will go towards Habitat for Humanity, a great cause.
The event will take place on December 12th and 13th down in Asheville, a wonderful little city full of like minded people. The lineup consists of a great blend of blues, rock, bluegrass and folk including the headliners Gov’t Mule and the Allman Brother’s Band. On top of the bands slated to perform each day, there are a whole slew of special guests who will no doubt join in on the fun. I promise that no one plays with more people than Warren, the “sit-in” is his go-to move and always a Christmas Jam staple. Read on for more info and the lineup.
On top of the night time show, the festival will hold a X-Mas Jam by Day, which includes extra performances, art & film. There will also be some comedy for those of you in need of a laugh. Pre-sale tickets have already gone on sale and they’ll run you $55 each night. There are VIP tickets available for a whopping $499; with a price tag like it must include something fancy. It’ll certainly be a great two nights of music and a great way to celebrate the holidays.

A Farewell of Sorts

Hey all. I wanted to get up a post to apologize for our sudden drop off the face of the live music world without announcing anything ahead of time. That was bad form. See, I’m on vacation this week for the holidays and I have recently been forced to make some tough decisions about the direction of the site and what sort of projects I’d like to focus on in the near future. But I didn’t really communicate all of this to all of you; turns out I just ignored the inevitable and decided to take off for vacation early.
Yeah, I’m pretty awesome like that.
At any rate, in case it wasn’t obvious already, I’ve made the decision recently to cease day-to-day operations here on Live Music Blog.com to free myself up for more exciting and interesting things in the very near future. We’ve had a great run together, but recent changes in my life have caused me to drift apart from running the site and enjoying the time spent online as much as I used to. At first I thought I was burnt out on live music in general, but I still go see as many concerts as before if the timing is right (it all depends on who’s in town and when…always). So I did some more soul-searching and the overwhelming feeling that I was left with was that it’s simply time for me to move on from the site and the great community of friends that I got to meet from around the site over the past couple years. The contributors that have helped out over the years have proven invaluable to me and my inspiration level, and I’m grateful to have met so many awesome people as a result of operating the blog. But the waning of interest has certainly been obvious over the past couple months and it was doing us all a great disservice to try and continue on with something that is less than passionate where it needs to be.
So what does this mean for the site and the great authors currently gracing our hallowed halls? Well I think we’re all just going to head off our separate ways in the short term, especially considering how busy all of our lives have become over the past year or so. We’re going to let the site stand for now and we’re going to just chill and take some time to figure out what’s next. I have a few ideas cooking up but I also really want to start getting back into skateboarding, so I’m trying to keep an open mind about how much time I’ll be spending on the interwebs.
I want to thank each and every visitor that stopped by to hang out, each and every commenter that tried to call us on our bullshit, and each and every person that emailed us offline to say “what’s up” or “keep up the good work” or whatever. And I want to thank Forbes.com for writing up one of the most entertaining descriptions of the site ever assembled (and still referenced even to this day):
Choosing from among the scores of genre-specific blogs is no mean feat, but Live Music Blog, edited by Justin Ward, is a cut above many. Devoted to live music, with an emphasis on jam bands, it mainly serves as a clearing house for “jamcasts” from favorites like String Cheese Incident and Government Mule, to popular summer jam festivals like Bonnaroo. (These downloads are virtually unavailable outside this blog and a handful of fan sites.) Search from a drop down menu of some thirty bands for group-specific news and music, Austin City Limits also among the list. Archives go back to July 2004 and are searchable by month, band or headline. The blog, updated almost daily, generates a good deal of commotion dispensing, then analyzing the scuttlebutt in the live music scene. A recent headline screamed that Cream might play at Madison Square Garden in the fall, though that remains unconfirmed. Another speculates that Phish, the now-disbanded king of all jam bands, would release a box set of the “epic 1998 Island tour.” Needless to say, the site caters to serious live music lovers.
BEST: The rumor mill. While there is no telling what is true or not, these fun posts generate a lot of excitement and discussion.
WORST: Like the parking lot of a Dead concert, the site is disorganized and difficult to navigate
I still consider the site’s comparison to a Dead lot as one of our proudest accomplishments. Thanks for all the good times and please keep in touch.
